About the Artist...

“My artwork is inspired by a love of architecture, the Impressionists, crazy quilts and the sublime landscape. I abstract these landscapes into glass and assemble them as if seen through a fractured lens.”
With a background in architecture, Josephine Geiger is largely a self-taught glass artist. She creates landscapes that are aesthetically appealing, technically sound and beyond pre-conceived expectations. Each piece is constructed with traditional leaded art glass techniques; from choosing and cutting each piece of glass, fitting the lead, copper & zinc came, soldering all of the joints, cementing the panel for stability to finally displaying the artwork to let the light shine through.
Josephine Geiger continually challenges herself to push the envelope of design by incorporating unusual materials such as copper, screen mesh or a unique, custom kiln-formed glass and frequently mixes techniques, such as copper foil, to add depth and texture. Her signature, JAG, written in copper and fused between layers of glass, is incorporated into the artwork; sometimes hidden, and other times as an accent to the composition, guaranteeing authenticity.
